I got this HDMI switch about over a year ago and its still working like its brand new. I was slightly unsure at first, especially when It was around 80 Bucks for it about October 2008. I have a 24″ 1080P monitor for my PC, Xbox360 and PS3. So I wanted something that I can plug everything in and then hit one button to switch between my systems without having to unplug and replug things in the back of my monitor. FYI my Monitor has DVI and HDMI switch in the back. My set is My PC is hooked into the DVI and Both my Xbox360 and PS3 are hooked into the switch via HDMI. (DVI and HDMI have no visual differences, only thing is HDMI can transfer audio, but i use optical for my audio for ps3 and xbox360) Anyways the BIG difference with this unit is that it IS HDCP applicable! What does HDCP mean? HDCP is licensed by Digital Content Protection, LLC. So what that means is that ALL and I mean ALL protected/licensed media, music, movies AND games have a protective code in them that needs HDCP to decode it for displaying. What would happen if you used a NON compliant HDCP switch? Well you would get a blank screen. No way to fix that except get an HDCP compliant switch. So that was my biggest worry but I did my research on this switch on other websites to make sure it would work, and it does beautifully. No loss of quality on either my xbox360 or my ps3 its just a simple switch, small and compact as well. If I ever needed another switch I would get this one, its way more inexpensive than many others that are out there that don’t do anything more than this does unless you are looking for more than 2 HDMI ports.
